Joining the Shankees is easy! To become a member of the Buenos Aires Shankees, players must have knowledge of the game of baseball, some previous playing experience and speak English fluently.
Shankee players must make every effort to show up to all games on time despite the normal Buenos Aires Friday night/Saturday morning hangover.
Players must be available to play on Saturday afternoons as of April 4th, 2009. However, since many ex-pats may only be in Buenos Aires for a short stay, they may play at any time during their stay provided they pay Shankee and league fees.
Players must be able to make due on league fees and team contributions to replace lost balls, broken bats, uniforms, gloves, game refreshments, etc.
Basic baseball rules and philosophy apply to the Shankees Baseball Team.
Though the team nature and club house are light hearted, there is a competitiveness that strives to win every single game and tournament; in honor if Abner Doubleday and the good ‘ole Red, White and Blue.
